IFFAS

IFFAS (International Football Fans Association Sweden) is a sister organisation to IFFA (International Football Fans Association) founded in South Africa in 2008 to redesigned and transform football with a particular focus on football fans. The organization also seeks to initiate and manage independent football fans events and align itself with global initiatives that share fundamental principles that contribute to social change and transform communities through sport.

In the football community, fans contribution in terms of tickets and merchandise purchase is very significant in helping to promote the existence of football. unfortunately, football fans are significantly neglected or left out when it comes to decision making and participation. Our organisation will create an independent event and an atmosphere in which fans who have the talents and skills to either play football or work in the football industry are given the opportunity to represent their regions and nations in football events, irrespective of their social and economic status, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender and nationality.

In 2008 we conducted a random research on youths between 14 and 19 years, and adult between 20 and 45 years. Our research was to know how fans think if an independent fans tournament is formed. This research was conducted in African countries where football is the main sport. These countries where Ghana, Ivory coast, Nigeria, Cameroon and Zambia. The response was remarkable, 9 out of 10 youths were in favour of fans national and international football tournaments. Their arguement was that football in these countries is political and beraucratic. Many talented young stars can not make their way to the elite level if they don´t have connections to politicians or top professional players. The same response and arguement was received from adults aged 20 to 45 years.

At the world cup 2010 in South Africa we conducted the same research but this time it was not defined where the respondent came from, it was random. Our question was to identify what respondents think if football fans starts an independent football fans world cup tournament. The results were overwhelmingly in favour of fans football national and world tournaments.

We concluded that, forming an independent football fans tournament will have a tremendous impact on youths uneployment, migration and socio-emotional factors. Many youths, especially from third world countries emigrate to first world countries to look for potential opportunities to play football. In most cases these youths never find their intended desires, as a results most of them become emotionally distress. This also causes socio-economic problems in the respective immigrant`s countries. IFFA will use the power of football to create possibilities for everyone that is a football fan to participate actively in football fans events and change millions of lifes in a positive direction.
